Our client is a stealth-mode drilling technology company aggressively backed by premier venture capitalists with a combined $4B under management.  The company is commercializing a revolutionary drilling technology to enable economical production of new oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy resources.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Engineering Manager.  

SCOPE

We have been asked to identify and recruit and individual who has the experience and capabilities to design, spec, procure, integrate, and test a customized conveyance and system to support a novel downhole tool.  With defined requirements for the downhole tool and a preliminary conveyance and rig system design, the candidate will first provide an updated system design.  

 

From the updated design, the candidate will spec and procure equipment for each component by working closely with equipment manufacturers.  The equipment will then be integrated in our facility and tested in a field environment.  Finally, the candidate will direct and coordinate both field trials and later field operations through the progressing evolution of the tool design.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be a degreed professional with 7 to 12 years of experience with an oilfield drilling service or manufacturer.  The ideal person will have a comfortable balance between hands on field and product development engineering.  This individual should have experience with a coiled tubing or conventional drilling manufacturer or downhole service company as well as having intimate working knowledge of both drill pipe and coil tubing drilling rigs/units and drilling fluid operations.  The finalist will be someone who is comfortable participating in an entrepreneurial team and performing technology field trials.

This individual must be a high energy, detail oriented team member who is able to interface with designers at rig and equipment suppliers to lead joint development efforts.  This person must possess sufficient project management skills to deliver programs on time and on budget

In summary, the successful candidate must be hands on and team oriented.  The individual’s personal style will need to be suited to a culture which is entrepreneurial, fast paced, value-driven, and with high corporate standards.  The individual will need to be comfortable working in a lean structure; highly customer focused with strong.
