Director, Accounting – SEC Reporting & Analysis
COMPANY
Our client is an independent offshore drilling contractor, that provides jackup drilling services to the exploration and production industry in the Gulf of Mexico.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Vice president and Chief Accounting Officer.
The direct reports to this position are Staff Accountant, Financial Analyst and others.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Direct the preparation of the annual, quarterly, and special SEC filings, including debt offerings, 144A memorandum offerings, and equity offerings.
• Oversee the research and resolution of accounting issues.
• Work with the Assistant Controller to implement new accounting pronouncements; development review, and implementation of accounting policies; provide technical accounting assistance to the legal, treasury, and corporate tax groups.
• Responsible for worldwide external audit coordination, involving extensive interaction with external auditors.
• Assist senior management in the preparation of deal proformas (e.g. debt/equity offerings, acquisitions, divestitures, and operational projects).
• Assess all policies and procedures and develop/implement best practices within areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for assessing departmental staffing needs and developing staff as required.
• Foster teamwork between corporate accounting, operational accounting, legal, treasury, and tax.
• Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management.
• Achieves effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning within the Accounting team.
• Supports high level of productivity, teamwork and employee satisfaction among Accounting team.
• Participates in the review and execution of various tax reports, such as international tax returns.
• Supports the annual audit process as well as any interim reviews.
• Performs other accounting duties and special projects as requested by management.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting or equivalent work experience is required; MBA is preferred.
Professional Experience:
Skills – Technical:
• Must have 10+ years progressive accounting experience, including management level experience in a computerized multi-national accounting environment.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years progressive management experience.
• Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC requirements, as well as regional accounting practices and statutes.
• Working experience in the offshore drilling industry or with an oil-related service company is preferred.
• Big Four experience preferred.
• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
Skills – Communication:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.

Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, and Other Requirements:
